In response to changing marketplace conditions, and as part of new grant funding by the National Science Foundation, the National Center for Telecommunications Technologies (NCTT) is changing its name to the National Center for Information and Communications Technologies (The ICT Center), an exciting transition.

The National Science Foundation has also funded the Mid-Pacific Information and Communications Technologies (MPICT) Regional Center, which will bring industry relationships and education innovations of the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley to improve ICT education.

Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) is an umbrella term, widely used in the rest of the world and the United Nations, to encompass all rapidly converging computer, software, networking, telecommunications, Internet, programming and information systems technologies.

The conference this year features fantastic events, including:

• Industry is showcasing great ICT educator resources (Apple, Adobe, Cisco, Juniper, IBM, EMC, VMware, Microsoft, Oracle, and Cengage).
• The National and Mid-Pacific ICT Centers will present their good work and how you can benefit from it.
• There are outstanding presentations of valuable work by other NSF-funded Centers (BATEC, CTC, CyberWATCH, CREATE, KitCenter).
• There are excellent presentations from ICT educators showcasing great educational practices.
• There are strong presentations on how to diversify educational and workforce populations.

• Don't miss the raffle, including great industry donated items, like an iPod and a Zune.

We hope to see you January 8-9, 2009 at the new $70m City College of San Francisco Mission Campus (opened 2/08 in a ceremony featuring U.S. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi).

The focus of the Winter 2009 Educator Conference will be on promoting, advancing and improving the quality and availability of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) education in the U.S. ICT is a term encompassing and identifying all rapidly converging computer, software, networking, telecommunications, Internet, programming and information systems technologies.

Location and Transportation:

Hotel

We recommend 2 boutique hotels by popular Union Square, convenient to shopping, tourist activities and public transportation. (The group block is no longer being held, but the group rate is still available, including for early arrivals and late departures on a space available basis.) Hotel Union Square is a convenient two blocks from BART and MUNI trains on the Powell Street cable car line. The group rate is $155 per night for a regular room, $185 a night for an upgraded room, if available. You may also reserve at the group rate on the Hotel Union Square online reservation system.

Hotel Diva is in theater country, only a few blocks from the Hotel Union Square. The group rate is $145 per night for a regular room, $175 a night for an upgraded room, if available.
